Calphalon 10 piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set

The Calphalon 10 piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set (model number SA10H) consists of one 1 quart saucepan with lid, one 2 quart saucepan with lid, one 3 quart covered saute pan, one 6.5 quart covered stockpot, and two skillets, one 8 inch and one 10 inch.

All the pans have a hard anodized aluminum exterior (which conducts heat efficiently), and the interior has a two layered non stick finish. The lids are made of glass (so you can see the food while it cooks), and the handles are made of stainless steel covered with cool-to-touch silicon.

Because of the non-stick interior, they recommend that you hand wash this only - do not put it into the dishwasher. But thanks to the non-stick interior, hand washing should be simple (tip: soak in soapy water first so that everything comes off with minimal scrubbing). Try to cook with wooden spoons to preserve the interior. These pans are safe in the oven to 400F and can go on top of stoves as well. They come with a 10 year warranty (as long as you have not ruined them by putting them in the dishwasher).

So should you buy this set? This set is similar to the Rachael Ray 10 piece cookware set (also non stick and hard anodized), except that in the Calphalon set, the covered saucepans are smaller. The Rachael Ray set is currently cheaper, so you might want to save a few dollars going with that instead.
If you want to go ahead and purchase the Calphalon set, Amazon are selling it with free shipping - see below:

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Rachel Ray is a TV celebrity chef who has her own line of cookware. The Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, is a cookware set that pretty much covers the needs of a modern cook.

This set is made from hard-anodized aluminum (which gives it the grey graphite look), with a non stick interior. The handles are orange silicon, and can withstand oven heat up to 400 F. The lids are made of glass so you can check on what is cooking without removing the lid.
Here's what you get in this set: two skillets, one 8 inch and one 10 inch; one 3 quart covered saute pan; one 1.5 quart covered saucepan; one 3 quart covered saucepan; and finally one 6 quart covered stockpot. Essentially you get 6 pans and four lids in your set.

This set is safe for cooking on top of the stove and in ovens up to 400F. They recommend hand-washing the pans to preserve the non-stick interior (one tip is to make sure you soak the pans in soapy water for an hour before washing to making the wash-up quick and easy). Try to use wooden or silicone spoons when stirring to avoid scratching the non-stick interior.
You get a limited lifetime warranty on this set, as long as you don't put in it the dishwasher (as per manufacturers instructions).
Rachel Ray also does a 14 piece set, which is a lot pricier considering you only get four extra pieces (two extra covered saucepans). But I've included the price below just so you can compare and contrast! The price on the left is the 10 piece set and the one on the right is the 14 piece set.
